It is certain that congenital heart disease is hereditary because one of the causes of congenital heart disease is related to genetic factors and it is inherited in different ways, some of which are chromosomal, i.e. congenital heart disease caused by chromosomal abnormalities.
These children often also have significant cosmetic malformations, such as trisomy 21, which is the most common form of congenital heart disease, and often present with endocardial defects or ventricular septal defects. In addition, conditions such as pulmonary stenosis and aortic coarctation may be seen in Williams syndrome, a chromosomal inheritance of congenital heart disease.
There are also polygenic genetic disorders, such as tetralogy of Fallot and coarctation of the arteries. And there are children with single-gene genetic disorders, such as Noonan syndrome, so there are multiple ways to inherit congenital heart disease.
But to find how many children with congenital heart disease have genetic factors, only 2%-3% can be found, in fact, 98% of children with congenital heart disease may not be able to find the genetic factors.
However, congenital heart disease is closely related to heredity, i.e. if the parents have congenital heart disease, the child's chance of getting the disease is significantly higher than that of a child whose parents do not have congenital heart disease. So congenital heart disease is a disease closely related to heredity, that is a definite answer.
